I'm almost finished hand quilting!

I thought I should post a few more photos of the progress of my new block of the month quilt. I've been snuggled up of a night time hand quilting. I have to say that so far I've really been enjoying the journey. There's something about the rhythm of quilting that I find relaxing which is probably why I have never been tempted to machine quilt anything. And having my new creation draped across me has kept me toasty warm...double bonus!

Tacking out the quilt was much easier than usual because I now have a lovely old pine work table to help me. I still put all the layers together on the floor and then progressed up to the table once I had some base tacking rows in place. It certainly saved my back!

Ready for the first hand quilting stitch!

Tools of the trade.

Rows of tiny stitches start to emerge.

Hope you have enjoyed seeing my quilting progress.
I look forward to revealing the finished quilt to you all soon.

New Block of the Month...Almost Finished

It's almost finished, my new block of the month quilt pattern. I sewed the outer border on yesterday which means it's now time to quilt. Luckily the weather is turning cool down here in Tasmania which means I'll have no trouble hand quilting. It will be nice and cosy.

As promised here are some more pictures of the quilt in progress.

Here's one of the cottages with embroidered trees and vine

This is one of the side panels.

I've appliqued a vine in each corner and added some more embroidery.

The inner corner blocks

Another cottage, there are four in total,

There's a border of Flying Geese

Another glimpse of a cottage and its embroidered garden and Bluebird

I hope to have the quilt finished and patterns ready to go by the end of July, so not too much longer to wait.

And here's a little something from my youngest daughter. My cherubs are on school holidays at the moment and my youngest (who is always wanting to make things) raided my sewing bin in search of some treasures. She was very excited to find some off cuts from my new block of the month quilt and begged me to help her sew something on the sewing machine. Here is the result, a pouch for her little bunny "Floppsity". She was thrilled with her new little bag.

Until next time, happy stitching!
Warmly Lenna
