Cute Little Bird to Sew

Looking for a bird pattern to sew?

I have this thing for birds. Not any kind of birds, just cute little birds like the ones that hop around my garden.

In light of this it's not surprising that I fell head over heals in love with this little bird at a recent craft fair. There were lots of them perched in all different positions just waiting for someone to take them home. I was even more excited to see patterns for sale because I had a strong feeling that I could not just stop at sewing one of these little guys.

That afternoon Miss 10 and myself sat down and stitched our very own little red breasted bird. He was so much fun to sew. Quick and easy too! He was finished within a few short hours.

He now takes pride of place on top of one of my button jars.

Although he does look a bit lonely, I think I need to sew a few more birds to keep him company. Recently while looking at some new books at Amazon I was delighted to discover this:

Little Birds: 26 Handmade Projects to Sew, Stitch, Quilt & Love (Design Collective)

Packed with over 26 different birds to sew I know I must have this book for my collection. Take  a look at this peacock:

If you would like to join in on the fun and sew a bird just like these, click here for more information.

Until next time happy bird sewing.
Warmly Lenna

PS  Many people have written to me wanting to know where to get their own pattern for the little bird I made.
I have included a link for you here
The pattern I used was from The Paper Shed.
Here is the website for you:

Lenna, this little fellow reminds me so much of the Robin Redbreasts your Grandmother used to make for me from seedpods and cotton wool. Thank you for sharing.

Oh! Oh! I have that book and I have to say that your red-breasted bird is just as sweet if not more adorable than anything in the book. Won't you tell us how you made it? Pretty please!
