Making Sock Puppets

The last few weeks I have been making Sock puppets with my Miss Eleven at school. The class needed some camel puppets for a puppet play they had written.

After some research and a little imagination our sock puppets took shape. We made them from white socks and cotton batting off cuts, which we then coloured using a solution of Parisian essence. The trick is to cut the sock and insert a piece of cardboard to form the mouth. This is then covered with felt. Click here for a website that shows you how.
Once we had enough camels, the kids had fun designing their own characters including an elephant, rabbit, zebra and dragon.
Making these sock puppets was heaps of fun. Here are some of their creations.
